Philosopher Kings
Philosophers and Kings by Gary McCulloch, Philosophers and Kings examines how the theme of "education for leadership" has developed, changed and declined in English secondary education during the twentieth century. Gary McCulloch examines the contributions of significant educators such as Cyril Norwood, Victor Gollancz and Eric James, and shows how an inherently "elitist" notion could in fact be adapted to form an important part of radical and even socialist educational thought, and share in the discrediting such notions have suffered during the 1980s. In so doing Philosophers and Kings makes an important contribution not only to the educational history of contemporary England, but to our understanding of the manifold cultural changes that have affected English society in the recent past.
Of Philosophers and Kings by Leon Harold Craig, Of Philosophers and Kings: Political Philosophy in Shakespeare's Macbeth and King Lear
The Philosopher Kings - The Philosopher Kings are a Canadian soul band and were one of the most commercially successful Canadian pop groups of the late 1990s. The name of the band is derived from Plato's Republic, in which he outlines the design of an idealistic government, ruled by a philosopher-king. Philosopher king - Philosopher-kings are the hypothetical rulers of Plato's utopian Kallipolis. If his ideal city-state is to ever come into being, "philosophers [must] become kings…or those now called kings [must]…genuinely and adequately philosophize" ( The Republic, 473c). Prozzäk - Prozzäk is a pop music side project by two members of the Canadian band The Philosopher Kings, James McCollum and Jason Levine, conceived as a lighthearted mockery of their own romantic troubles. They created the characters of Simon, who sang in a corny British accent about his failed romances, and Milo, who was his best friend and mentor in his search for true love; they starred together in a number of popular animated music videos. Craig Hunter - Craig Hunter is the former drummer of the pop band The Philosopher Kings. He is now currently a music teacher at Waterdown District High School located in Waterdown, Ontario, Canada.
